I’ve worn a lot of hats, and, frankly, too many masks. Survival mode can look like nailing the big presentation while your joints and or muscles scream, or swapping GIFs or memes while panic does somersaults behind your rib cage.
Domestic violence? Survivor.
Chronic illness? Warrior.
Mental health? It’s a journey.
Childhood scars? Healing.
Toxic workplaces and burnout? Recovering, thanks.
My breaking point hit in 2023 while working in big tech. Body, mind, spirit: all systems down. The layoff that followed felt like the end of everything. Until I fell even harder. Sometimes you have to fall a long way and hit the ground hard in order to soar higher than you thought possible.
Along my journey I decided to try a variety of wellness and mental health modalities, like CBT, EMDR, Coaching, Reiki, Guided Meditation, Breathwork, and hypnotherapy. Sometimes it's learning which tools work best for you given the circumstance, but all of them are powerful tools to lean on. I wanted a way to provide space and time for other burnt-out women to escape, rest, and try out some of these modalities. Soft Pants, Big Dreams Retreat was created as a result, and we decided to try it out ourselves in May and we can't wait to return to share it with you all!
